Who impacts me and my education Essay by Elena - March 2023 Scholarship Essay

I, Elena Leon, am writing to you to put forward my scholarship essay about who I has had a positive impact on me and my education. My whole life I’ve seen my family struggle, and that never stopped them from getting what they wanted in life. The struggle made them work harder and that’s what inspires me to keep pushing no matter how many times I fail. I’ve seen my cousin, Natalie distance herself from the world to get what she wanted and now she is 23 years old with a bachelors in nursing, a house that she owns, and just this year had a baby boy. My cousin lost her mother almost four years ago and to see how she handled this tragic event with her siblings, showed me how strong she could be under such great distress. To be able to still get through and finish school with the pain she was going through showed strength, which I believe is what you need going into the medical field. She was always the sweetest person making sure everyone was happy and taken care of; her energy definitely brought light into people's world making it positive.
From what I’ve seen my cousin was always organized and on top of her responsibilities. When she knew she had a big test coming up she would sacrifice her day/plans to make sure she’d pass that test in order to make her future bright. My cousin inspires me with the way she tried to be ahead with her studies and get her BSN sooner. She went from getting her CNA at Moraine Valley straight to transferring to Chamberlain where she graduated from and got her BSN. She has been my role model and by looking up to her, I have done everything I can to be ahead when it comes to my education. I want to overall reach my goals sooner than later, no matter what comes in the way.
When coming into high school I knew that I wanted to graduate early, and start my future sooner. I did summer school three years in a row to make sure I got certain classes out the way to get my credits sooner. My goal was to graduate in December of 2022, but I believe it was my sophomore year that I heard about my school having a CNA dual enrollment program. I decided to enroll as I saw this as a good opportunity for starting my future in the medical field. Once I was accepted into the program, I made sure I was on top of any classes or assignments that needed to be done in order to continue with the program. Currently in my senior year I’m taking anatomy which is one of the classes that are required. I was not doing so good in the beginning but that didn’t stop me from pushing harder to understand more and do well. From there, I would take as much time as I needed out of my day to make sure I understood the lesson to help better myself for the next test/quiz, plus the new lessons they would give us. I would be up late hours going over learning targets, reviews, and notes to help me best understand the lessons.
