2021 Goals by Elena - December 2020 Scholarship Essay

Academics and education have always been super important in my life. My parents always expect the absolute best out of me, so I push myself to get the highest grades that I can. If I am not getting the grades that I know I am capable of getting, then it stresses me out. So, my New Years Resolution for 2021 is to buckle down, work as hard as I can, and figure out which path is the best for me. My top college that I have applied to is Ohio State. For as long as I remember, it has been a dream of mine to get into that college. I believe it is the place in Ohio where the smartest people go and if I were to get in, I would feel like all of the work I have done in school had paid off. My expectations for myself are very high, and I cannot imagine going to a school that does not reflect those expectations on to others.

However, I might possibly want to play basketball in college, so that is another very tough decision I am going to have to make. I will probably not get any offers to Ohio State for basketball, so if I were to go there I would need to give up playing for the school. It is hard trying to pick bits and pieces of what I like about each school because I do not know which is going to be the best for me in the future. My senior year is all coming to an end so quickly, and the whole college process is not what I expected to be. Overall, next year I hope to have come to a decision about what I want to do in college and where I want to start that new chapter of my life.
