South Carolina by Ebony - April 2016 Scholarship Essay
When I began high school there were a lot of things that I had to start considering. I was focused on how I looked, who to hang out with and how too become "popular". Little did I know that everything I was doing was impacting my future. I had not even started to think about college and my career.
Knowing what I know now, the advice that I would give to younger students is to start thinking about their future career as soon as they get to high school. I would also tell them to start taking steps toward their future with tools such as scholarships. Scholarships are helpful to many students and make achieving a higher education possible. I waited until the middle of my senior year to start filling out applications. It was such a bad decision because I was missing out on so many opportunities for college. High school can be fun and it is definitely okay to hang out with people and meet new friends but what is more important is focusing on your education. This will make senior year less stressful and easier to enjoy. It is better to work hard throughout your entire high school career because then when it is coming to an end, you can have a little more fun and get ready to head to college!
