Promotions and Upgrades by Dylan - March 2025 Scholarship Essay
Whenever someone asked me in elementary school what I wanted to be when I grew up, I responded with “a pig” or “an astronaut”. Very quickly I realized that these things were out of my reach since I don’t like mud and have only flown on an airplane once. Instead, I decided to look into a career that would support my lifestyle and provide me with opportunities to advance professionally.
In 10 years, my ultimate goal is to help people, maintain a practical lifestyle, and be a lifelong learner by majoring in Radiographic Imaging. I hope that my friendly and positive attitude will hopefully put my patients at ease for their appointment. This is exactly why I want to begin my education at James A Rhodes State College. I have realistic expectations of achieving a middle class lifestyle. Radiographic Imaging allows me to reach this locally and without excessive student debt. The opportunities for career advancement are limitless. I hope to add various certifications after achieving my degree to broaden my skills and career prospects. Currently my ultimate goal is to one day be promoted to an administrative position in healthcare.
Now that I am no longer that little girl that had unrealistic plans for herself, I gradually realized many of the medical field interactions I have had were with x-ray technicians. As an athlete, I have had x-rays on my jaw, fingers, wrist, ankle, and knee. These images were vital to my care and without them, other medical professionals would not have concrete evidence of a concern. I believe I was meant to work in the healthcare field to confidently encourage patients and professionals to know that our team is working for them.
