High school is a dramatically important part of a young adult's life. Not only does it teach you different "book smart" topics revolving around English, mathematics and science, but it also teaches you important skills regarding how to become a successful leader. The reasons behind these values being instilled in our school system is quite simple. We need well rounded leadership qualities in order to be successful in our life. This includes, finding a job, raising a family, maintaining a career, and lastly, college.

Leadership in a college student is extraordinarily important. Not only must you help your fellow classmates by possibly becoming a peer tudor, among other things, but you also must demonstrate fine leadership traits to show that you know how to manage yourself. Leadership of others is extremely important, but one must first master leadership of themselves if they truly aim to be successful. College focuses on deadlines and being independent. If one does not have the leadership qualities needed then they will not be successful in a college environment.

Certain qualities which create strong leaders include; possessing excelling time management, being able to step out of your comfort zone and try new things, being able to branch out from the normal and make the right decisions as opposed to the popular ones, and also being able realize which battles deserve fighting and which ones deserve being abandoned.

All of these qualities listed above are crucial for becoming an exceptional leader. If one lacks any of these specific qualities, they will not have success in any environment which requires a leadership role.
