Dinner with a President by Dominique - October 2017 Scholarship Essay

If I could have dinner with one U.S President I will choose President Barack Obama. There are so many reasons why I would have dinner with President Obama.
The first reason is that President Obama has done so much for this country’s people in his eight-year presidency. He has influenced all people, not just the African American community. President Obama is intelligent, humorous, nonchalant, and a hardworking man that had overcome a lot of challenges in his life. He did not allow these challenges to stop him from achieving his dream. As the first African American President it would be an honor and a blessing to have any type of conversation with him.
Second reason I would like to have dinner with President Obama is to learn more about how he became a strong advocate for Women’s Rights. This topic is extremely important to me because I want to grow up in a society that supports women in their careers, and believes that women are equal to men. I believe the majority of the U.S. Presidents in the past didn’t say much about equality for women rights or equal pay for women doing the same job as a man. Having President Obama speak out repeatedly about women’s rights has meant a lot to me. It is vital that we are judged on the work we do rather than the gender we are.
In conclusion, President Obama has been a role model to me and has inspired me to think outside of my box. I would say “Thank You” for making changes in this world for my generation and inspiring me to dream big, as he has inspired so many others including celebrities. President Obama was loved by his country and by the African American community. The reason why I chose him to have dinner with is to just say thank you for the things that he has put in place for my generation.
