Community Service Makes a Difference in Everyone's Life (Even For Our Furry Friends) by Dominique - January 2017 Scholarship Essay

During my years of high school, I have been involved in many community service projects. Each one of those projects have made me realize how truly blessed I am. The community service projects that I am involved in are usually dealing with the less fortunate and I love to see their faces when I am there to help them. Doing these projects make me realize how much help these people really need. It has also made me realize that it is not only people that need help; animals need help too.

All of the community service projects that I have done have inspired me to start my own project for our local humane society. I started to make posters and hang them up over my high school, inside local veterinary offices, and in other schools in my county. The posters had a list of supplies that the humane society needs and it had a link to a "GoFundMe" account where they could donate money. I also went to the humane society with one of my friends and she video taped me while I was there. I posted that video on social media to spread the word about my project and it worked. I had students and teachers bringing supplies to my high school every day. I also raised almost one hundred dollars on the "GoFundMe" account.

If it was not for the other community service projects that I was involved in, I do not believe that I would have started or been this successful in the humane society project. I am very grateful for the outcome of my project. I feel like I made a huge difference for the animals and I could not ask for a better outcome.
