I Want to Help by Domingo - May 2019 Scholarship Essay

I live on the north side of the city where there isn't much of anything. I feel that most of the time kids get in trouble because there is nothing available to them and especially since the location is in the poor side of the community.
I would use the grant to build a park that gives them the opportunity to grow in their sports. I would build basketball, volleyball, tennis court, football and soccer field, and a track course. I would like for kids to see that there is an opportunity to use sports to as a way to move up the world. That instead of getting in trouble they can find a sport they like and try their hardest to be the best they can be in hopes that they can a scholarship.
I think that many kids who come from a poor family might see that they might not be able to go to college, because their parents would not be able to afford it.
I would like to build on the grant and not only give back to the community, but maybe find people who can volunteer their time to coach these kids. This might help them realize that there are people out there that want the same for them and as I do and have the opportunity to get ahead.
