Building Something Bigger by Dikran - April 2025 Scholarship Essay

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always wanted to do something that left a mark on the world. I didn’t want to just live life doing the same thing every day—I wanted to build something bigger. That’s why I plan on majoring in Business Administration when I get to college. Business is the foundation of everything we interact with in daily life. Whether it’s technology, entertainment, or even social causes, there’s a business side behind it. I want to be part of that world so I can bring new ideas to life and create something meaningful.

My passion for business really started when I launched my own eBay store in 2023. I began selling collectibles, especially Pokémon cards, and learned how to set prices, manage inventory, and communicate with customers. It taught me a lot about responsibility and how to run something on my own. It wasn’t just about making money—it was about creating value and learning how the market works. That experience motivated me to dive deeper into the business world.

I’m also interested in entrepreneurship because I want to bring new innovations into the tech industry. I’ve always looked up to people who didn’t follow the usual path and instead built something from the ground up. I want to be someone who brings new ideas to life—someone who takes risks, solves problems, and improves the way people live and work.

Through my time in the Police Academy, sports, tutoring, and running a photography account, I’ve developed leadership skills, time management, and creative thinking. All of these experiences have prepared me for a major in business, where I’ll be able to apply what I’ve learned and keep growing.

Choosing Business Administration isn’t just about a career—it’s about becoming the kind of person I’ve always wanted to be. It’s about having the freedom to create, to lead, and to make a difference. I know it won’t be easy, but I’m ready to take that step and see where this path takes me.
