My Motivational Quote by Dijon - November 2018 Scholarship Essay

I often say I am ready to graduate high school, but I rarely ask myself what do I want people to remember about me years from now. One of the few ways for people to trigger a memory of me would most likely be through our high school yearbook. I do not believe a picture is enough to truly recall how a person influenced you in your high school years. The perfect way to remember a person can be through their year book quote. That being said, the meaningful quote I want people to remember me by is "Money does not make you happy, but I would rather cry in a Bentley rather than a Toyota". My reasons for choosing this quote are not to say money is everything, but to help push myself to become successful and remind myself that life will be difficult no matter what.

Becoming successful has heavily been on my mind since the beginning of high school. All my friends know how serious I take school and know I care about becoming successful. Often I become stressed with all the work I receive from my teachers, stressed from getting ready to take the ACT, even stressed with the financial aspect of college.. However, reading my quote gives me the strength to keep pushing forward to reach my goals.

Success is the big picture that everyone sees, but your journey to success is what really matters. The journey is important because it shapes what kind of person you will be when you become successful. Therefore, when in my quote I say I would rather cry in a Bentley rather than a Toyota, I show that no matter what societal class you are in, life will have its challenges. No one will grow to a higher place in their life without going through an obstacle of life. It is simply just not how life works. Therefore, reading my quote reminds me of the trials and tribulations I will go through even when I have reached a higher point in my life.

My senior yearbook quote says I am willing to do what it takes to get to where I want in life. Yes, everyone wants the finer things in life including me, but just accomplishing things my ancestors and my parents never were able to will be enough to make me feel successful. My quote "Money does not make you happy, but I would rather cry in a Bentley rather than a Toyota", keeps me motivated to do the best I can and also reminds that obstacles in life are normal.
