A Positive Environment Equals a Successful Future by Dianna - October 2014 Scholarship Essay

My ideal classroom environment would have to be a room full of students who are willing to challenge one another in order to become successful. I believe this is the perfect learning environment because in a situation where a student is behind and doesn't understand a topic its peers would be able to help. As for me, I have been in a leaning environment where my peers do care about their education and do accept the challenges the teachers gives them.

From experience of being part of a class where students like being challenged by the topic helped me think outside of the box. For example, I was enrolled in an AP chemistry class, which was very mentally stressful, all of the students knew what the teacher was talking about and I would have to ask my neighbor to explain it to me one more time. This really helped me become more aware and dig deep into what the topic was about.

Being in a class that was so mentally challenged and having peers who would get the topic quickly helped me in not just this class but in my other classes as well. An environment like this did and will help me succeed in my education because being surrounded by people who have the same goals as I do motivates me to do better and challenge myself. The skills I learned from this will help me become successful in college and my future career.
