Being a Night Owl: Nights and Less Distractions Go Hand in Hand by Diana - January 2019 Scholarship Essay

As a night owl staying up late at night is the most productive time for me to complete tasks. These tasks, for instance, would be homework since school is major part of my life. This time is the most productive for me because not only are there less distraction around night time, but also with less distractions I have more time to be thoughtful on the tasks I work on.
In the mornings when I finally drag myself out of bed and get out of my house I am surrounded by daily commotions. Usually, when you live in a busy city like Chicago like I do everyone in the morning is rushing to get to get to school or work. In the grueling morning, hours barely awake arriving to school I was working with a partner on a project involving app development for a computer science class. It was so loud in the classroom that the project wasn’t started, my energy was so low that my focus easily shifted toward the commotion going on in the classroom.
But in the evening after I arrived home I was away from the commotion at school and I had some time to eat and take a shower. When I set aside time to work on the project my energy I did extensive research on app ideas and brainstormed until I settled an app idea. The idea centered to help reduce carbon emissions by tracking how much user uses their car and recommend alternative transportation methods. The next day my partner and I worked together to not only complete the project but also have extra time to review and explain more in depth how the app would work to improve the project.
As people, it's important that we as people embrace the time we find where we are the most productive to complete your tasks. Whether these tasks are given as homework or just work you do at a job. By being productive whether you're a night owl or early bird we all have responsibilities in our lives that must get done. Getting tasks done at your most productive time can also guarantee you more free time, which I think we all need in our busy stressful lives.
