Relationship Between Leadership and College Success by Destiny - March 2015 Scholarship Essay

I believe leadership skills are necessary for college success. Every year, thousands among thousands of people begin their undergraduate studies across the world. Not every person who begins college completely obtains leadership skills, but the potential lies within. Leadership skills show a person’s ability to take control and complete tasks at hand with confidence and motive. Throughout college, an individual will strengthen his or her leadership skills and use them for potential careers post-graduation.

A knowledgeable individual with leadership skills is guaranteed to aim and strive towards his or her goals. An individual who acquires leadership qualities has greater chances at becoming employed. A leader shows initiative and determination; qualities that employers seek in employees. Businesses and corporations look for graduates who can positively impact and contribute to the companies.

A leader acquires many attributes to reach success during college and the rest of his or her life. A leader opens his or her mind to others, but sticks to their own ideas and judgment. A leader uses resources and adapts to his or her environment. A leader accepts feedback and views it as an opportunity to improve. A leader has great organizational skills and is thoughtful around others. Lastly, a leader communicates with others and knows how to handle situations. All of these skills are vital for a college student to acquire and apply in the outside world.
