Conquering my future by Destiny - August 2023 Scholarship Essay

My biggest achievement during my education is passing the third grade. As a child I was challenged in school. I was smart as a kid but didn’t really like to focus on my work, which caused me to fail and repeat. My mother had enough of that and started putting me in programs who help children who are mentally challenged in school. She would go out and buy schoolbooks from the stores that had tracing numbers and alphabet, solving math equations, and reading books.

My mother stepped up and did what she had to do to help her child, and because of that I’m now in college. I’ve learned from that situation of not wanting to do my work or simply sit still and focus on what I was doing. I come from a lower-class income, so things unfortunately isn’t just handed to me. Therefore, I must work for things that I want. By going to college, I’m working for the career that I would like to have, and by doing this essay I’m working to get the necessary money I need to help pay for my college funding.

Going to college and completing the first year is just the first steppingstone of getting closer to my future goals. I would love to have a nice career in computer management systems and be free of financial debt. The only way I’ll be able to do that is if I continue to do my work and focus on what I need to do. When I do that, I will complete my second year strong and move even closer to my future goals. By passing the third grade I learned a lot of grit and the events of failing over and over has carried with me to show me I have overcome an obstacle that most people can’t.

It takes a lot of focus to be involved with any career involving computers. But I’ve already conquered an obstacle that was hard for me, and I’ve soaked in everything that happened. Therefore, by using all the knowledge from third grade that consist of; learning how to do my work, focusing, doing one thing at a time, and taking my time for quality I’m able to support myself like how I passed third grade to move closer to my future goals.
