College= Opportunity by Desarae - June 2013 Scholarship Essay

          Attending college means OPPORTUNITY to me. College is an opporunity for growth: personally, intellectually, socially, and spritually. On a personal level college allows me to become independent. I learn more about myself, the things I like and dislike. Intellectually I get to learn a wealth of knowledge. Socially, I am meeting new people and forming relationships. I believe attending college has enhanced my spirtuality, it has brought me closer to God. Without God I do not think I would be where I am today, and I believe he orders my steps. In addition to growth, college is an investment. As a result of completing college, I will have the ability to earn more money than my peers who did not. In the workforce I will be more qualified for jobs, and serve as an ideal candidate because I will have theortical and practical skills. Lastly, I will be eligible to apply for more jobs since I will have a college degree.
            I am creating a solid foundation for myself and my future by attending college. I will not have the same financial struggles as my parents. My mother was a single parent and did not have the chance to attend college when she was my age. Attending college is a blessing because there are so many people who wish they could have gone. My college experience will make me a global citizen who is well versed in a cornicopia of worldwide issues.
