Historical Figure by Deborah - February 2016 Scholarship Essay

There are many historical figures that I look up to, each for different reasons, but one person that sticks out to me, would be the author Jane Austin. When I first read one of Jane Austen's novels, I enjoyed it because it was one of the rawest told love stories of two impossible people with impossible circumstances. As I grew older I began to take notice of the reasoning’s behind her literature. I began to see someone standing up for herself and the obstacles that she faced at those times through these characters. What I found most inspiring was her determination and fearlessness to point a spotlight of the realities that she believed to be unfair and make it public. Any time that I think of someone who has inspired me the most, I think of Jane Austen. Due to this I am sure that if I had the choice of having dinner with any historical figure, it would be Ms. Austen.
At most I would enjoy getting to know her a little bit more, what we assume by her books is that the people she may have known are reflected as the characters in her books. I would like to know if this is true and how she chose to deal with it in her life. If she had all of these opinions and she chose to write about them, how was she towards her family and brothers who were clergyman, how was she when she went out socially? Did Ms. Austen voice her opinions openly to family and friends? As for the relationship that did not work out, why was this and why did she choose to allow her books to end happily and in success if her own love life did not end the same way. My final question may lean towards, did she have a purpose for her writings? Did she expect to influence the people of her time, did she know that her way of thinking may one day be shared by the world? To end I would thank her for her time and the time she dedicated to her novels.
