YOU ARE ENOUGH by Deavian - July 2017 Scholarship Essay

“Respectful yourself enough to walk away from anyone or anything that no longer serves you, grows you, or makes you happy.” Taking charge of your own life involves one to do what makes their own soul smile. However, to do this includes owning your worth, never allowing someone else to define your worth, and believing your future is obtainable.

People will judge someone without knowing the slightest history of who they are, where they have been, or where they are going. However, as individuals we know that this can occur every time we walk in a room, but being deeply rooted in who you are rids this discouragement. One must walk with their head held high and believe in who they are. Worth means the value of something and to know one’s worth is to know the power one holds. The type of power the fuels them to get up and grind as hard as they do. The type of determination and grit others wished they could have. Owning one’s worth does not mean acknowledging that one person is better than another, but rather no longer allowing the past to hold one from their future. Becoming as light as a feather to be lifted higher and denying all the negative words once said. Due to the simple fact that those words no longer define who one is rather who one use to be.

People will always try to tell someone what they should do, because they have done it successfully without realizing no one is meant to be the same. As humans, we may resemble but not one single person on this earth is the exact same. Nevertheless, when someone decides to better themselves or chooses an outfit that makes them feel their best, and people suddenly choose to criticize their choices. Life is all about what one makes it and their personal spin on the obstacles that they have has overcame. Nothing anyone tries to tell someone that they should change is correct, because no one knows all the answers. Yes, we all will fail at least once in our lifetimes, but that does not mean we failed at becoming successful. Everyone has their own path to reach their own dreams so why lesson to people that have not discovered their own? Continue walking into rooms with eyes set on success, gleaming smiles, and amazing personalities displaying to others that “it is okay to be different.” We all have our own perception of how our lives should look, and that is fine we are all worthy of one thing and that is love.

Achieving something is one of the most rewarding things in life, because of that deep sense of accomplishment one feels. The answer to achieving something starts with goal setting, and making the goals that are set a priority. Making goals a priority will enable a sense of significance to fulfill the plans one has laid out. Knowing the steps needed to get closer to where one wants to be gains direction. The first step is taking the past baggage for what it is, because to become new one must “shed the old skin.” Second accepting the person one, formerly was is nonexistent, because the burdens are now gone. Third making the bright future ahead a reality by buckling down and working hard. Life will not be easy, but once the goals are achieved it will be worth it.

Knowing that who you are is sufficient is a feeling only few may agree with, but learning to believe that takes strength. This strength is found in taking pride in oneself, not accepting other’s words as truth, and believing in the future. Never allow anyone to write the end of one’s story and never place a question mark where a period should be planted.
