Psychology by Deanna - August 2017 Scholarship Essay

As a college professor with the ability to teach any class of my choosing, I would choose to teach psychology. Psychology is the study of the human brain and its functions which I find very interesting. Last year I went through a hard time and started to see a psychologist for my anxiety issues. During theses sessions my psychologist taught me many different things about the human brain and why things happen. For example, he taught me that anxiety is something we create in our head.
I believe that psychology is a great subject and that everyone should be educated on the way the brain functions. Being educated on the way our brain works along with certain conditions will allow people to become more connected with each other. In this field you can learn about eating disorders, depression, anxiety, and many other conditions that people may have. Psychology teaches people how to predict and understand the behavior of other individuals in certain situations.
Learning about the human brain allows for people to be more considerate for other people and what they might be going through. If I had the choice of any subject to teach students it would be psychology because I believe people need to be educated on disorders people may have.
