Abraham Lincoln by Dawn - February 2016 Scholarship Essay

From the day that I decided to continue my education in the business field, I have read and learned about many things in the business world. Abraham Lincoln was the most influential and promising aspects that I have learned so far to date.
Mr. Lincoln was the 16th President of the United States, from March 1861 until his assassination in April 1865. He was born February 12, 1809 in Hodgenville, KY. He was married to Mary Todd Lincoln from 1842-1865 and had 4 sons. He was a great leader, and had many strengths that made him that great leader; He circulated among the troops and built strong alliances, he used persuasion rather than coercion, he thought honesty and integrity are the best policies, Lincoln never acted out of vengeance or spite, he was able to handle unjust criticism. He led by being led, he set goals and wanted to know what the results were. He also encouraged innovation and was a master at public speaking. Abraham used conversations and storytelling to influence people.
He is the best leader in American history, if not in all history. Abolishing slavery, ending the civil war, and saving the republic are just a few of Abraham Lincoln accomplishments. What other leaders have accomplished anything near these feats?
If I would have had the honor of meeting the Great Abraham Lincoln, I would ask him some questions like about politics and business; Out of all the speeches that you wrote and gave, which one is most important to you? If you could end something else, in addition to slavery, what would it be? What are you most disappointed about in our current president? What are you most disappointed about in our country and what changes would you make? What are you the happiest about concerning our great country?
I believe that all leaders should be GREAT LEADERS. Learning from other great leaders, like Abraham Lincoln, will lead me to be a great leader in my future leadership positions.
