Education is power by David - October 2022 Scholarship Essay

Education is an important part of our world today. I want to be a positive role in this world. I think many people do, but the question is how can we play a part in making a better future? Well I would say that it needs education as a part of that formula. Education is a key part of any modern society, so much so that we can look to history to see that the civilizations who focused on education and improvements to technology were the civilizations that survived! We have many issues in the world today that can be eased by helping ourselves and others become educated. I have seen how the lack of education can cause issues, and conversely, the access to education creates communities and peoples of strength. The goal of this essay is to be short, yet concise. Education means the opportunity to further oneself or others, but not only that, but to utilize that opportunity.
A common goal that I believe we need to have been to promote education access to underserved communities. These communities, regardless of who or where they are, are at a disadvantage to those that have ease of access to education. This is a worldwide issue and needs to be addressed better if we worldwide want to improve. We see conflicts and resource mismanagement, destruction, and poverty all around the world, yet part of the problem is that a basic right, to be educated, is missing for millions of people. Education means having the tools to be a productive and useful member of society, which can’t happen if access to it is limited to certain villages, towns, cities, or countries.
If the opportunity can be furnished, then the next hurtle is to inform of the possibilities that education unlocks. This includes being able to contribute to various elements of society, being able to understand and communicate better, being more aware of the issues and current events around us and being able to try to be part of a solution to common human trait issues.
Education is power, and as cliché as it sounds, this is important to me if I want to be a positive contributor to our world.
