What I would do with unlimited time and money. by Darryl - April 2023 Scholarship Essay
To be completely honest, there are multiple answers to this question, but what is morally right? What would be functional for society? If I give everyone money, then everyone is rich and the economy goes under. If I don't give everybody money, then I, along with the other 1% am hoarding the money that's in circulation and not doing anything productive with it. So realistically, infinite money would not benefit anybody immediately... but, if I had infinite money, I would build an army of robot Iron Man suits capable of solving all of the world's problems. Cat stuck in a tree? Bye, bye loser fireman, Iron Man suit on the job. A Fire??? The Iron Man suit will be capable of solving that issue in no time. Aliens? Monsters? Evil threats against the world? My Iron Man suit army will handle that with ease.
As foolish as that sounds, it brings you back to reality when you think of what you would do with unlimited time and money. Some people on Earth right now, have close to what we could call infinite money. Elon Musk is the founder, CEO, and chief engineer of SpaceX; angel investor, CEO, and product architect of Tesla, Inc.; owner and CEO of Twitter; founder of the Boring Company; co-founder of Neuralink and OpenAI; and president of the philanthropic Musk Foundation. He will not be able to spend billions of dollars in earnings during his lifetime, so we can use him as an example of someone with infinite money. This just shows that even with infinite money, no logical person would give away hundreds or even thousands to everyone on the street, because it just doesn't work like that. For our capitalist economy to thrive, there must be people who have money, and unfortunately, there must be people who don't.
To finally answer your question, in all honesty, I would buy freedom for anybody who feels oppressed, comfort for the uncomfortable, and health for the sick. We don't have unlimited time or money, so we should use what we have to at least provide that to the world.
