George Washington by Darren - October 2017 Scholarship Essay

I would like to have dinner with George Washington. He commanded the colonial rebels through great difficulties and disappointments and continued to promote moral to the American cause.
First off I would like to have dinner with George Washington because I love stories. His innumerable stories would be enthralling to even someone like me who doesn't like history. His stories of crossing the Delaware and surprising the Hessian troops, depression and starvation in valley forge, and numerous battles he fought both against Native Americans and Europeans would fascinate many. I would love to hear about his spy ring and how used strategy to defeat and much larger opponent that him.
The second reason I am at dinner with George Washington is that I would enjoy to hear about the culture and life of the colonists back 1700's. How the social status was set and how they viewed time. In our day and age when people are always rushed and upset it would be nice to get a different perspective on time and life.
And thirdly, I feel like I would have a lot to learn from a man like that. We struggles through periods of great depression and had many deserting him time and again. He fought for something he believed in even though the odds seemed great against him. He rebelled against the normal and became the first president of an independent nation. He helped lay the foundations for the country we have today. With all these experience I know he could teach more in one dinner than I could ever learn in thousands of dinners by myself.
