A student who lives within 1-3 hours of campus can live at home and use commuting time to study. Secondly, it will surely be perfected to run on renewable energy sources. Therefore, the smart car will be much better for the environment. This will provide a better quality of life for all, not just students. Finally, the smart car will make it easier for carpooling. In other words, students and professors can combine efforts to use mobile study groups. Then too, smart cars will help alleviate traffic. Summarizing, smart cars will help turn unproductive commuting time into productive time for students and workers alike. Rural living will then be more accessible all. This will help strengthen bedroom communities and help alleviate crowded cities.

Another aspect of the smart car that will help students is the connectivity the vehicles will provide. With advanced technology being introduced, the smart cars will have computer and internet access to accommodate information retrieval and video conferencing. All of this with voice activation or touch screen. Moreover, it would be a more realistic version of connectivity as portrayed in M. T. Anderson’s book “Feed”. In the novel, all you have to do is think of it and you can connect to it.

Productive commuting, affordable living in rural communities, energy efficiency and connectivity will help smart cars to change the way people think of education. Smart cars will surely translate into smarter students overall.
