First, let me start out by saying that I believe studying abroad should not be required of a college student. There are many factors to take into consideration when asked such a question. For example, maybe the student isn't allowed to travel outside of the country for some reason, or maybe their parents don't want them to risk going into a dangerous country. Therefore studying abroad should not be required.

That being said, I believe that studying abroad should be heavily encouraged. It may not be the best option for some students therefore it is important that they students have the choice of where they study. For those that studying abroad works for it is important that they are well informed. Some students never even think of studying abroad because they don't know how the process works. I believe studying abroad provides students with an alternate viewpoint of their field. Whether majoring in finance or nursing, a student studying abroad is able to see how their field operates in another country. This experience provides a student with knowledge they are able to take home and use to their advantage when in the workforce. Colleges and universities should place more importance on studying abroad and better inform their students about doing so. An informed student is more likely to make a once-in-a-lifetime decision that will change their life forever.
