Fidelity by Danny - December 2015 Scholarship Essay

My name is Danny sneed, I'm 22 years old and am now attending a college of dupage. I had entered college planing on becoming an engineer, but because of psych intro class; I've completely changed my course in life. I find psychology so much more attractive as a study. This exposure to psych gave an academic orientation I had been lacking. I spend a lot of time self educating myself, but don't put a lot of effort in thinking of my future. I've been interested in many different fields in psychology; though I haven't been able to figure out which ones can meet my needs. I have say I would love to research in behavior and neuroscience. Research in general is important to me. I want something to contibute that gives a new concept or understanding of a phenomenon in behavior. I plan to go to grad school and I hope to receive a Ph.d, with lots of study and research under me.
Working clinically has crossed my mind, but I still lack the image of what a day in a hospital feels like. I want to feel out my career, maybe working part-time at multiple places to see where I fit in. I think experience is really important to me, and can only make me more perceptive and knowledgeable.
Honestly though I would really like to become a professor. I want to live in the class room where I found my passion and be the one in the position of the mentors who played an important role in making me who I am today and who I will be in the future.
