Leadership as a Necessity by Danielle - March 2015 Scholarship Essay
I strongly believe that leadership is a necessary quality to have in order to gain success in college. Studies show students that possess these qualities have a stronger resume and stronger academic career. Leadership can help a student socially and academically.
In college, students are going to have classes with hundreds of kids. They have to find a way to stand out, the best way being leadership. Students can be seen as invisible if they don’t put themselves out there for everyone to listen. They will gain a connection with the professors and make an impact on other students in their classes. Students who are able to lead a group, ask questions, or challenge ideas, are going to have a strong academic career. They will be able to understand things more clearly than a student who just sits back and doesn’t participate.
Socially, students are going to get noticed if they act as a leader of others. They will gain many more colleagues and friends through their leadership. Students who stand out in college are going to be much more socially advanced than a quiet introvert.
Without leadership, college students will get dragged into things because they don’t have enough authority to state how they feel. In the social and academic world of college, students are going to be much more engaged and involved if they have the quality of leadership.
