Effective Leadership by Danielle - March 2015 Scholarship Essay
Leadership is certainly one of the necessary skills needed for academic success at any university. In college, it’s important that students take leadership when necessary when a situation calls for it. It shows that students can be responsible and confident under pressure, while working efficiently alone or guiding others within a group. Students can also improve upon many other important traits that go along with leadership. These are things that help students become successful throughout college and their life following graduation.
For example, it is critical that students can work effectively with others or by themselves. Leadership helps students take action with group assignments and improve their responsibility while working alone. This leads to success in many college class work assignments. Many other essential skills are associated with being a leader. For instance, students can improve their communicating, planning, and decision-making skills while practicing student leadership. Not only is leadership a skill beneficial for college success, it is imperative for a rewarding and successful life following college. It helps students become independent and self-sufficient while preparing for their career, leading them to transformative internships and job opportunities. Students with leadership skills will be more valuable and recognized by potential businesses and future employers.
In conclusion, developing and honing effective leadership skills will fundamentally drive your college and future career roles and is critical to success. As our great President John Quincy Adams once wrote, “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.”
