On a Wednesday Afternoon.. by Danielle - October 2014 Scholarship Essay
On a Wednesday afternoon I head to class. I walk in with my friends to the table. We look at the board for our daily physics warm up. Discussion on how to solve the problem begins. At another table a group holds their own discussion on how to solve it. After a while, a few of us go to the board and write how our groups thought it should be solved. We might have disagreements on how to solve it but in the end we fix each other’s mistakes and find the way to solve it (maybe more than one).
Discussing an idea out with others helps me bounce my ideas and refine it. My mind becomes more stimulated with ideas thrown around. It allows me string different bits of ideas together or I’ll fill in gaps of everyone else’s to make one giant cohesive idea. Many of the projects have succeeded because of it.
One time I had to make a graphic novel on Bill of Rights 1689 in England. With my group, we created a fictional comic based on it. It was very comedic and everyone made a contribution on the plot. We got many laughs and learned the material of how America’s Bill of Rights came to be. My work and understanding would not be as good without the help and cooperation of my classmates.
