The Mind of Sigmund Freud
Sigmund Freud is a very interesting and substantial historical figure in my eyes. If I were to choose one person to sit and speak with over dinner it would be him. There are numerous things I would love to talk about, such as his theories of the human Psyche, the unconscious mind, and the many different defense mechanisms used by people. The fact that one man was able to discover and explain such complex and unfathomable concepts is fascinating to me.
The Psych of the human mind would be my first topic of discussion, as to how the idea of this would even come about. In a time where there was no knowledge of the way someone thinks. The simple nature of this, and how someone could come up with 3 different brackets of entities available to explain the way one acts the way they do is just crazy to me. This is something that is very intriguing to myself and would love to talk to the creator of the theory about it.
Something about the unconscious mind and the capacity and endless power is so captivating. The idea that your unconscious mind results in majority of your decision-making and thoughts is an unbelievable concept. How so many experiences in your one’s life are tucked away and still may be the cause of the very way someone acts in every aspect of their life, even without acknowledgement.
Lastly, the ability to be the first to turn up all of the different ways a person may defend or justify certain actions is mind-boggling. To name and explain many different defense mechanisms and be the first to do so. I’d love to have an insight on the mind of such a genius and how one is able to come up with such implausible ideas in their own time.
Sigmund Freud is a very monumental person in the world of psychology and I think being able to sit down for a dinner with him would be simply amazing. The creation of the ideas of the Psych, unconscious and conscious mind, and many defense mechanisms is astounding. These are the reasons I would love to have a dinner to talk to Sigmund Freud.
