A New Perspective Through Physics by Daniel - February 2025 Scholarship Essay

Learning is an especially important aspect of my life. I enjoy learning about what I most passionate about, mathematics and physics. These subjects and their understanding of the world around me captivates me.

This school year I started AP Physics taught by my teacher Mr. Evans and I have never felt drawn towards a class as much as this one before. I have always loved math, but Physics takes math and applies it towards explaining the mechanics of the world. Every day I feel as though I have learned something new. Physics has opened a new perspective to the world that I previously never saw. I look at the objects around me and begin to think about all the forces acting upon them. I imagine force diagrams with vectors showing the direction and magnitude of the forces. When working through challenging physics problems, I am forced to grow and my eagerness to learn prevents me from giving up.

My desire to continue to learn about physics and how it affects the world around me prompted me to decide on a mechanical engineering major. I am excited to embark on my 4-year Bachelor’s of Science degree at the University of Florida and continue to expand my knowledge to use in a future career. Physics and Mr. Evans’ teachings have truly shaped and brought a refreshed desire to learn into my life.
