If I could have dinner with one U.S. President, I would have to choose Ronald Reagan. Ronald Reagan is my favorite President for a number of reasons. First of all, I admire the fact that he was a Christian. As a Christian, he obeyed God’s laws, which helped this country greatly, as it followed Biblical principles. This country was founded on Biblical principles, and when run on them, they help this country.
The party he was associated makes a big difference to me, and I’d like to point out that he started out as a Democrat, as his father was, and later changed to Republican, as he found that his views agreed more with the Republican Party. This means a lot to me, because our country is a republic, and it’s only fitting that anyone in office, or anyone in the country for that matter, should be Republicans.
Ronald Reagan thought about fellow Americans a lot, which may be one of the reasons he was such a great President. One of my favorite stories of his Presidency is when he went to church. When he went to church, everyone else who came had to go through a metal detector, as you must do whenever you what to enter a federal building. Ronald Reagan decided to stop this for the people’s sake, and attended service at the White House. He did not want people who were only going to church to have to pass through a metal detector just because he was there.
Considering these few reasons, if I was able to have dinner with a U.S. President, I would have to choose Ronald Reagan. I am a Christian, a republican (though unregistered, as I am under age), and I think about fellow Americans a lot, wondering what could be done to improve conditions for them. These few similarities could strike up some interesting conversations during dinner time, and pass dinner time quickly, a little too quickly for me, if I truly was with him, because I would want to spend as much time as possible talking with him.
