Lions, Tigers, And Bears, Oh My! by Damon - August 2019 Scholarship Essay
My passion is animals and I'm positive that I would make the most of a gap year by spending time working at the zoo or even pet stores. I'm majoring in Biology and want to become a zoologist. I would also make time to travel around to study wildlife in their natural habitats and learn as much as I can so that I could potentially be ahead of the game returning to school. I believe that the more I learn on the outside, the more I succeed when it comes to working on my degrees! Becoming an intern would also be very useful. I'd be able to use this experience as leverage and position myself into paid employment once I get my degree.
Outside of this being my way of putting the time to good use during a gap year, even if I wasn't planning on returning to school, I'd still pursue the animal industry just because I love them so much. There's not a time right now where I'm not finding myself watching the animal shows on all networks, studying and reading about them and learning the intent of creation and function of animals. I know this probably sounds completely nerdy, and it is, I have to say, I'm unique in my living and my thinking. I believe animals are like this too. If I could know what they think of us, I'd be so happy! Since they can't talk, I'll have to settle on learning and loving them.
