The definition of Senioritis by Dadrian - November 2022 Scholarship Essay

Sen-ior-i-tis: A crippling disease that demotivates Seniors before they graduate, I guess I could say senioritis dawned upon me QUICKLY. Everything seemed to be going great from when school started in August until November hit. The second 9 weeks were creeping up on me and I had never felt this mentally drained. College deadlines were coming up and I found it very hard to motivate myself to a successful path. Nearly wanting to give up, I had to remind myself what my favorite artist Nicki Minaj said: “Barbz stay in school!”
This famous line quoted by the queen of rap sticks in my brain when I'm feeling under pressure. I find it surprising how Nicki Minaj has become my source of inspiration this school year. I had recently fallen behind in my pre-cal and aquatic science class to the point where I started to accept failing grades to refrain from receiving a zero in the grade book. The quote "Barbz stay in school" helped me to start thinking about my future. I just got admitted into 3 of my top universities and they all ask for final transcripts. I didn’t want them to see this overachiever scholar fall behind and get rejected, I want them to see a prospective student who maintained an AB honor roll all four years of high school.
Thanks to that quote I am now on track to ending the first semester of senior year with one B. Senioritis hit me very soon but I had to remember what Nicki said "Barbz stay in school" and I want to make her proud by knowing her words are impacting scholars that she doesn’t know. A viral quote has pushed me to think ahead and not just in the present. I can quote though "It ain't bout' the race either, it's the marathon"
