Never give up. by Crystal - July 2016 Scholarship Essay

The most important lesson I have learned from any teacher would be not to give up. Everywhere in the world things get to hard so people give up. Someday's giving up is not the answer. The answer should always be to keep trying. Many things in life are not going to be handed to you. You have to earn your way to the top, to earn your own success.
Giving up does not make you a coward. It also does not mean you have actually failed necessarily, Giving up means that you have done all that you could have and have stopped trying. It might have been too hard, or it might have been too much to handle.
My teacher, Mr.Sagar, showed me something incredible. He would always give us so much work. The work he would give us was exhausting. The work would be huge packets and I didn’t want to do them. The first night I got them I tried to do the first page, it took me around one hour and fourty-five minutes. I had to read the chapter and answer around ten pages of questions. I thought to myself that night: I can not do it, I would not be able to complete thirty-three chapter guides of these and do other homework from other classes.
After the first few days of trying to do all of this hard work, I went to talk to him. I went after school and asked if we could talk. I told him how I had felt and that I felt very stressed and I wanted to give up. He told me that this was an AP class course. Which meant that I would need to do more than the other classes. The work he gave us would be for my own good. He said that in live I would want to give up so many times, but as long as I tried my best and never gave up I would become something successful in life.
My teacher is not an ordinary teacher. He is this really weird cool guy, who can help you out with any problem you have. He also always helps out anyone who needs help or who gets bullied. He is one of my role models because in a difficult time that I thought I couldn’t move forward he used his words to make me feel like I could actually do it. Now that I have completed them and have done them, it was actually the words of motivation that helped me complete and turn them in before any of the 64 or so other students. I worked over my limit and made sure that I was on top.
I’ve never been the smartest person in the world but I do push myself and motivate myself to do better so that I can look back and be proud of who I am. Mr.Sager taught me that life is going to keep getting harder each step of the way, but all we have to do is try and keep moving on. I never thought of myself as a as an overachiever, but thanks to one teacher telling me not to give up and telling me that I actually could actually accomplish anything I do, didn’t just mean that I can do it in his class but also in other classes. Even my other teachers saw a change in me. I am a pretty lazy person, but I also love to be other people’s motivation. I love to show people that if I can do it, they can too. Anyone can do anything as long as they put their mind to it, even if it seems like a lot or even if you do not imagine yourself doing it, as long as you try it will all be worth it in the end.
