The Life of a Little Dreamer Girl by Courtney - December 2015 Scholarship Essay

Wait for me, I can’t let my future get away! As a little girl, I always had, and still do, big dreams to be more than ordinary. Growing up I did not know exactly what I wanted to be but I knew whatever it was, I wanted to be extraordinary at it. There would be times where I would play my imagination in fast-forward to the future and make a life where I succeeded. The feeling of being where you want to be in life cannot be replaced by any other feeling.

Being the first of four siblings to go to college, I really wanted to go the distance. Not necessarily just for me but also for my Father, to receive the pat on the back of acceptance that he was proud of my accomplishments. Growing up I always had a dream of being a photographer, so that’s exactly what I did. Have you ever heard of a “Kodiak moment”? Well, as a little dreamer girl, my whole life was a big “Kodiak moment”. My Father would buy me Kodiak disposable cameras every two weeks and I would wake up every day photographing the simple moments. My Father would then go and develop the film and I would start all over, photographing life as it passed me by. From there I opened my own business and started school when I got older; I had big dreams of becoming a photographer.

A few years into the making, reality sunk in and I realized I needed more from life. I changed my major to Law and fell in love with the idea of becoming a Paralegal. I completed my Legal Studies and still did not feel satisfied. So here I am, age 23, thinking, “Where will I be in 10 years with the education I have received”? With a very high chin and a mind full of dreams, I decided to continue my education.

Having been introduced to the Arts field already with Photography, learning the legal studies as a Paralegal and real life experiences, I decided to go to school to get my Bachelors Degree in Music Business. Having this education under my belt and also the feeling of accomplishment will help me succeed in life. Education is the key factor to where your life will end up.

So with that being said, the education I receive from this scholarship will allow my dreams to come in play instead of just through imagination. Where I can proudly say, in ten years I see myself managing new up and coming artists from all around the world. Spreading the dream of success to them just as I have always had my whole life as a little dreamer girl.
