Generation Z and College by Courtney - April 2020 Scholarship Essay
My generation is one where technology continues to advance, diversity is valued, and knowledge has exponential growth. This generation is referred to as “gen z” and includes a wave of pro-college minded people who value education. Generation Z consists of students who have received an education with an emphasis on continuation past high school and the core value of education. Along with this core value, however, is a social pressure for success, driving several young-adults to attend university and make important educational decisions and early ages. Although this ideology believes that everyone is capable of a higher education, it neglects to acknowledge the thought that college might not be suitable for all. This being said, college is important for those who need to meet educational standards to become eligible for their desired career/workforce. College is a valuable resource for a successful future, but not necessary for success. There are several different pathways and career options for the future; some of which a college education is an important part of and others which college is unnecessary.
Personally, I value college for my future because it is an important factor in my future career success and advancement. As an aspiring paramedic/ER nurse, a medical-related college education will provide me with the tools and knowledge to excel in the medical workforce.
