The Fault In Our Stars by conner - May 2017 Scholarship Essay
As cliche as this sounds considering what a hit the movie was in 2015, The book, The Fault In Our Stars, written by John Green influenced me a great amount. It is a very extraordinary love story between two young adults, Hazel and Augustus. I know that love stories may not always be influential considering they are mostly about love, but John Green made sure this love story left an impact. The two characters are both dealing or have dealt with a form of cancer. Giving the vibe of reality in the story. Their love story was unique because it was different compared to any heard before. The story depicts their love while dealing with cancer and other life complications.
This book was very influential to me not only by the strong love story but by the life lessons. It taught me to never take anything or anyone for granted, to not complain about the little things, and to cherish every moment of life. The story has pain, and is overall very sad. But, having to read about two characters who are fighting cancer and still are finding love and happiness makes you feel selfish and want to stop worrying about the non important things. It showed me the importance of the little moments I share with my loved ones because they in fact can get taken away so instantly and the last thing you want to share with them should anything but negative. This book was influential to me because it was real. The story may not have been real life, but it was real in its lessons. It gave me more the just feelings of love, but I fel inspired to be better, to love more, think freely, and to be myself
