Music is a universal language which can be used as a different approach to learning. Teachers should use music to convey educational material at the high school level. Today, teens can memorize the lyrics to a popular song by simply listening to the song a few times. If students could take that skill and apply it to their school work an educational revolution would occur. For instance, stories of holy crusades, kings and queens, and explorers can all be put to a catchy beat that will stick in the minds of students. Through the repetition of these stories, the students will gain knowledge and enrich their lives.

Most kids today strictly memorize the facts for the sake of passing the test. Students are not benefiting because the information is not committed to their long- term memory. When the information is put to music with a catchy tune, students can recall the information much more effectively. Learning through music is a fun, interactive way to improve memory recall. The repetition in songs helps with listening skills and comprehension. Most people enjoy music and view it as a hobby. Since music is a source of entertainment, it is a great way to entice those who are uninterested in classwork. The knowledge that is retained through song increases knowledge, confidence, and forever enriches the lives of the student.
