Neurologically Connected by Clara - January 2020 Scholarship Essay
Technology advances throughout years of development, likewise, our cognitive enhancement and learning do as-well. Technology can sprout many areas of academic learning, as it has for me throughout my classroom experience. No two people are alike, we study differently, learn at dissimilar speeds, and concentrate best in varying environments. I am a visual learner by default and technological advancements in my mind are my ability to engage in a classroom, outside the room or not.
Learning in a classroom with a source of technology as an educational support platform can have a profound effect on memory and attention. Since adolescents, we are taught to read and write with picture books, shapes, and colors in which we interact with. The same learning attributes have continued to apply to my learning capabilities with technological advancements. From a young age, I can still replay videos in my mind from Bill Nye, The Magic School Bus, diagrams of how cyme is produced in the body, and other memorable moments.
In the years following the academic classroom, I will be having to use technology to be able to distinguish masses, interpret different colors and recognize the various organs in the body. As I lead into my desired career after leaving the classroom behind, the use of technology will still have a positive attribute in my ability to recognize, recall, replay, and learn. In my case, it allowed me to see and understand the logic behind a concept. The advancement of computerized sound systems, 3D diagrams, and interactive screen engagement has exercised my cognitive connection to visual stimuli and allowed the classroom to become a source of creativity and excitement.
