The Inspiring Argument by Cimone - November 2022 Scholarship Essay

My most surprising source of inspiration for this school year would probably be a minor argument with my friends. The cause of the argument is not the most important but what it did to me was. The argument caused me to feel isolated and alone. During this time, I did a lot of thinking about who I am and how I live my life. I thought, a lot, back to the argument and how it made me feel.

There was about a week or two of time that my friends and I didn't speak and during that time I became very productive. I honestly became a person I’ve never seen before. Truth be told, I thought I would become lazier and not want to do anything, but it was the complete opposite. I spent more time in the kitchen and made a fruit salad, I started back up at the gym and went regularly, I also stopped procrastinating as much as I used to and actually did my school work beforehand. I liked who I became after the argument but I also missed my friends.

After my friends and I made up, there was limited contact between us. I re-established my friendships with them and with other people. I didn’t have much communication with any of my friends for a while as I kept up this productive attitude. Eventually, as a few months went by and it got closer to the end of the school year, some of the procrastination returned and I stopped going to the gym as much. I do regret not keeping that up.

Whether it was the argument that made me change or the resulting feelings but I became a whole new person. This new person was one who benefited me but also left me feeling alone. No matter how I felt, this was my strangest, yet the most surprising source of inspiration.
