Life Series by Cian - November 2021 Scholarship Essay

I always thought a good class for a senior year in high school or a freshman in college would be about the basics in life that are not usually taught. There are some things in life that you have to learn on your own because they aren't taught. Becoming an adult is tough. It is even tougher if you don't have the proper guidance. I want there to be a class titled "Life Series". It would be a series of classes designed to teach you all about the little things in life that you need.

Some of the topics up for discussion could be:
Taxes: How to pay them and why you have to pay them.
Balancing a checkbook: How to deduct and add, interest rates, bank fees, etc
Credit Cards: How to get one, what does it do for your credit, the perils of paying minimums
Mortgages: How to apply, what do you need, what is a good rate
Social Security: What does it do, what is it used for, when do we get it

There are so many minor and major topics to go over that no one teaches anymore. We are left clueless and end up having to ask parents or friends and a lot of times they can not explain it easily or have differing opinions. This class must be essential in every high school and college. It would lead to a world and economy that is in much better shape. We need help to understand how best to manage our future. This class should be part of the core and not an elective. I would love to have this class and I am sure many people would agree.
