Having leadership skills has proven to be benefit in all phases of life, from leading your softball team to state champions or the student council as president to become a manager or higher in an organization. College is no different in this respect, and having leadership skills will allow the individual to make the most out of their college experience, gain positive results with their peer groups and help develop them for the working world.

Leadership does not always come with a title, so being a leader in the class or college could be about showing your fellow students the right way to conduct yourself and not cheat in class, or help guide and mentor those around. Being able to help a group or individual achieve something more than what they would be able to do on their own is an important side effect of great leadership. Practicing these skills in college will help you in the long run, because the microcosm of personalities, culture and values present there will be a great reflect of those individuals are likely to face in their career. Mastering the ability to be a constructive and effective leader here, will have a great positive in your career.
