What personal experiences led you to select your chosen major? by Christina - February 2024 Scholarship Essay

Thinking about the future and my plans for my life has been on my mind for several years. Since
I have been in school and achieving honors, I have come up with goals for my life. I am applying for this scholarship to follow my dreams and goals.
Coming up in a foster home for the early years of my life, I encountered many challenges that could have set me off course in life. However, with the support of my aunt who got me and my siblings out of that situation and my determination to overcome the obstacles in my life, I conquered those barriers headstrong. I went to school while staying strong and studying tremendously to achieve my goal of academic success.
During high school is when I developed the fondness for my education. It became more important to me because I understood that there are more ways and opportunities of learning than what I perceived in secondary school. I also understood that being successful in life and doing what you love can make a difference in someone else's life. I became proficient in all of my classes and I earned honors certificates because of my dedication to my education. Knowing that I am excellent in all of my classes influenced me to start to think about college.
Understanding the power of my well earned success in my education I decided to seek a college education. I became certain that I wanted to pursue a veterinarian career. Since I have great communication skills and teamwork skills, I will be able to successfully pursue this career. Also having a soft spot for animals and having a dog of my own really contributes to my goal of wanting to be a veterinarian. I've always wanted to help stray or hurt animals since I was a young child. I would always feed and bathe stray baby cats that I found.
With the help of this scholarship, I intend to major in Veterinary Medicine. Since I have been dedicated to my education and have a passion for animals I think this career path would be great for me. I plan to contribute to research and save the animals with poor health after I have completed my educational path in college. By helping with animal health it also contributes to the health of the public. This scholarship will also help me with my college funds.
In conclusion, I’m confident that my education is the most influential thing I have to be successful in life. This scholarship will not only help with my college funds but it will also relieve a burden off of me and my family. By recognizing me, you are recognizing my future and helping me to financially use my education to be successful in life. By pursuing this career I know that I will be known for helping the pet owners and many pets out there. Knowing this makes me excited to pursue my veterinary career.
