Impossible Dream by Christina - September 2018 Scholarship Essay
Every artist has to start small with the first drop of paint, ink or glimmer of inspiration. On a normal basis, that means trial and error with little chance of success. However, my college is located in Chicago which gives me access to a large web of people. Those to discover me, those to fall in love with my work and those to support me. My education will give me the first brick in building a better life for myself. After that, it is up to me to lay the rest of them in the most perfect order to ensure a solid foundation.
In twenty-five years from today, my life will have drastically changed due to my hard work and dedication to my dreams. My career as an artist overall is quite successful and my paintings are highly sought after. I am the top Visual Effects artist in the field with my own series of hyperrealistic, fully animated films. My prosperous career eliminated my student loan debt and my parents are enjoying their new home. My fiancee and I were able to get married and honeymoon in Ireland for a few weeks. We purchased a large home in Georgia on ten acres of land and our two children are both on the Dean’s list in college. Unlike myself, they will never have to worry about college debt. Every year we donate a few thousand dollars to Riley Children’s hospital. Without my stubborn determination, none of these things would have been possible. The best part about it is the joy we bring when we go see the children on Christmas eve.
It is the challenge of every person in the world to be the master of their own destiny. No one can force another to make something of themselves. We have to chose what to do with our lives and sometimes that means a hard road. It means long nights, a mountainous climb and even tears. My journey thus far has been treacherous, filled with heartache and hardship. So, whatever roadblocks or challenges are destined to come had better get out of my way because they are in no way prepared to handle me.
