Martin Luther King Jr. by Christian - February 2016 Scholarship Essay

There are multiple historical figures that everyone would jump at the chance to have dinner with. Many would chose the likes of George Washington, Thomas Jerfferson, or Abraham Lincoln. However, I would want the opportunity to have dinner with Martin Luther King Jr.
I picked Martin Luther King Jr. because I would want to pick his brain about what he went through during the 1960s. Leading people in peaceful protest and not retaliating, like the majority of people interests me, and I want to get his answer. Also, I would relish the fact of hearing stories from his experiences that are not in today's history books. Listening to him tell me stories of his arrest, and the aftermath of his home being bombed, would be an exciting way to learn about him instead of being in a history class. I would ask him for advise on how to be a person that can make a difference in this world, and be affective in doing so. We could share our childhood experiences and compare them from when he was growing up compared to my childhood experiences.
So all in all, having the opportunity to dine with Martin Luther King Jr., who had a huge impact in creating equal rights for African Americans would be something that I could not pass up.
