Getting it done by Christian - December 2017 Scholarship Essay
How many times have we all walked into class, head hung low, slouching, and nothing to show in class in just a few minutes? I'll let you in on a secret: Get your work done. I can't even count how many times that I have gotten 0's for not doing my homework. Now, being a senior, I understand that my grades matter more than I had ever actually believed, and so I get my work done and it turns out to be a full proof plan for success.
What High School grade would you say has the easiest course-load, 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th? I think that most people would agree that 9th grade has the easiest course-load, and they'd probably be right. Currently I have a 4.0 GPA as a high school senior, but as a freshman I had two D's. This may be typical of seniors who have easy course-loads, but I am in two AP classes right now, compared to none in my freshman year. How can this be that I am doing better in harder classes than easier classes? I'm getting my work done. The biggest problem my freshman self faced was he was too concerned with talking to classmates rather than getting his school work done. He received a D in Physical Science, and another in Spanish 1. Now, as a result of him not doing his work, my GPA will forever be injured, no matter how hard I try to fix it. I am currently trying very hard to fix my GPA by getting great grades in every subject. I get my work done and I do it well. I am taking AP classes to help my GPA in any way possible, but I will never be able to get that blessed 4.0 on my transcript or a rope around my neck because of my failure to do homework my freshman year.
The key to getting good grades on your school work/projects is just to simply get it done and try your best. Many teachers will be proud to see your effort on your assignments, and all teachers will be relieved that you at least turned something in. My advice to you is to just do your work and turn it in, and you'll do better than me freshman year. Not only will your transcript and report cards look nicer, but so will you when you are able to hold your head up because you are one of the students in class that actually completed their work on time. Getting your work done now will change your life for the future, for the better.
