If I had unlimited time and money, I would use what I’ve learned in school to bring heart healthcare to people around the world who need it most. In my anatomy and physiology class, I studied serious heart conditions like Atrial Septal Defect, Ebstein Anomaly and Aortic Aneurysms. These heart defects can be life threatening if not caught early, but many people, especially in poor or remote areas, never get diagnosed. Learning about how the heart works and how fragile it can be made me realize how unfair it is that some people don't have access to basic care.
I would create mobile heart clinics that travel to remote areas around the world. These mobile heart clinics would be prepared with portable ultrasound machines, EKGs and other tools that will help diagnose heart conditions. They will also be equipped with doctors and other health professionals. In addition to providing medical attention, these clinics will be able to educate local communities about the signs of heart problems and teach health workers how to care for patients.
This idea is rooted in my education, but also reflects my belief that everyone deserves the chance to live a healthy life. I believe that my idea would help save lives and bring hope to people who are often forgotten.
