My Future by Chloe - November 2023 Scholarship Essay

Attending college is a crucial step toward achieving my goal of becoming a registered nurse. I learned that registered nurses can earn a lot of money if they put in the work, so college is my next step to living a comfortable life. If I complete the plan that I have set ill be able to give back to my family and be able to do things for myself.

My family more specifically my mother and her sisters have done everything they can for my brothers, cousins, and me. Growing up we weren’t the best financially, my father left when I was only months so that left my mother to take care of three children all alone. But she wasn’t always dealing with it alone she had my grandparents to help her and even her sisters. They sacrificed a lot so that we can always have a roof over our heads, food to eat, and a bed to sleep in. I dont always tell them how great full I am for what they did and how hard they work to become stable for us despite all of them being really young. So I hope through college I’ll be able to become a registered nurse and when I finally can I’ll be able to do more for them with the money I make. My dream is to take my mom, my brothers, four tias, their partners, and my cousins out to eat and ill be able to pay for everybody.

Growing up my mom has always been stubborn and when I would try to pay for things with money I earned she wouldn’t let me; She never told me why but I think she thought of it as her still taking care of me and that she was responsible so I shouldn’t have to get things on my own. The same happened when my brothers grew up and had their own jobs they wouldn’t let me pay for anything. So with that being I would never ask for anything because I knew they’d try to get it for me. Personally I can’t wait till I earn enough to where I can get myself things I want then and there. But again that would only be possible through college so I can go a get a good education to become a registered nurse so I can get paid a lot.

In conclusion college is the only way I can get to where I want and achieve what I want. I’ll become a registered nurse be able to give back to my family finally and be able to take of myself. All i have to do right now is get into a good college and when i get there give it my all while always having my goals in mind.
