In 10 years, my purpose begins. by Chloe - June 2023 Scholarship Essay
Everyone has different goals for their life. Some people strive towards the goal of money. Other people strive towards the goal of fame. I strive towards the goal of helpfulness. When I was 13 years old, a sermon in church made me question what I was meant to do with my life. I asked God, and he told me to help people. Suddenly, I got this vision in my head of helping people medically. I want to be able to make others’ lives easier. That’s my purpose in life, and my education is going to be what helps me achieve this goal.
I want to be a doctor that travels the world and helps poorer countries. I’ve recently passed my test for the seal of biliteracy , so when I travel to hispanic countries, I’ll be able to more thoroughly help. So far, my education has helped me build the foundation that I’ll need to complete college and medical school. I’ve taken 4 years of Spanish through my school’s foreign language department, and I’ve already begun acquiring college credit hours.
This basic education has been great, but it won’t get me to where I need to be. I have to further my education through college and medical school to be able to help people in the way that I’ve envisioned. In 10 years, I see myself nearing the end of my medical residency. I don’t know what specific type of doctor I want to be, but I’ll discover that in medical school once I’m more knowledgeable on the different types. By nearing the end of my medical residency program, it means that I’m one step closer to being able to travel and help the people that need it. I want to be able to offer people medical aid and religious aid. While curing physical needs, I also want to be curing emotional needs. I want to spread the love of God to those who haven’t had the chance to hear about it yet. I want others to feel the same joy that I do from having a relationship with God, but people can’t experience that until they’ve been exposed to the love of God. That’s my purpose in life. My purpose is to expose people to the love of God through curing their physical and emotional needs.
In 10 years, I’ll be nearing the end of the beginning of my purpose on Earth. I’ll be nearing the end of my extended education that allows me to help other people and fulfill my purpose. Without a basic education, I would not be able to complete college or medical school. Without college, I wouldn’t be able to complete medical school. Without medical school, I wouldn’t be able to help other people.
