Power In Grace by Chloe - December 2018 Scholarship Essay

The Nobel Prize is viewed with respect, dignity, and most of all, power. The power one earns when receiving the Nobel Prize is extraordinary, but it is not the type of power one imagines. Power in today's society is viewed as strength and the ability to control and move things, but this power is not like that in the slightest. This type of power is the ability to shape and change the world. A person with this power can move people and they can create world changing revolutions. Power like this is not for the faint of heart, nor is it for the power hungry. If the world wants the kind of power to go into the right hands, the Nobel Prize recipient must have these two qualities: selflessness and humbleness, the most important factors of grace.

Selflessness is the ability to put others before yourself without any obligations or criteria. People who are truly selfless and compassionate do things just for the good of the world. This is so important when receiving the Nobel Prize because if one is going to have the power to shape people's minds, one has to do it for the good of the world, and not themself. Selflessness is the key to how people interact with problems and conflicts around them. The winner of this prize must show inherent selflessness, something that is very rare in today's world, but it can be found.

The second quality the winner must possess is humbleness. The world does not need another power hungry, entitled, prideful leader in our culture. The world needs a person who has done countless things for society, not to glorify themself, but to glorify the people they have helped. Humbleness is so important when it comes to power. Power can drive people insane, it can turn people away from the goals they once had, no matter how selfless they were. That is why the power must be given to someone humble, with no intention to overuse their power. Humbleness will how the world who it is really about. It is about us. It is about changing the world for the better and making life whole again.

Selflessness and humbleness, the two most important factors of this prize, should be examined within each candidate very carefully. These two things will grasp the world with vigor, but treat the world with the kindness and grace it needs. The winner of the Nobel Prize must encompass these qualities if the world wants to see a unique and wonderful change in society's standard of power.
